HKISO

Hong Kong International Science Olympiad (HKISO) is an International Science Competition held annually around the world. It consists of 4 main categories: Physics, Biology, Chemistry & Integrated Science.

HKISO is for students from Grade 2 to Grade 12. It follows closely with Hong Kong School Science Syllabus and tests what students have learned on their level of content. This allows participants to well-prepare in different categories to know their strengths and weakness for preparation.

Winners from HKISO Heat Round can have a chance to work with participants from different regions to try out some experiments altogether in Singapore OR Hong Kong alternatively.

Become one of scientists in the future

Father of Fiber Optic Communications, Sir Charles Kuen Kao
Winner in Nobel Prize in Physics (2009)

The greatest achievement of Gao Song’s life was that he published the basic theory of applying fiber optics to communication in 1965, and developed an auxiliary system needed to realize optical communication, which led to the emergence of the Internet. With the rapid development of communication technology, optical fiber has gradually become a highway for data transmission, and has become an indispensable technology in modern people's lives. He also won the Nobel Prize in Physics in the 9th year and reached the peak of academics.

Chen-Ning Franklin Yang
Winner in Nobel Prize in Physics (1957)

Yang Chen-Ning is a prominent Chinese theoretical physicist who made significant contributions to statistical mechanics, gauge theory, and both particle physics and condensed matter physics. He and Tsung-dao Lee received the 1957 Nobel Prize in Physics for their work on parity nonconservation of weak interaction. The two proposed that one of the basic quantum-mechanics laws, the conservation of parity, is violated in the so-called weak nuclear reactions, those nuclear processes that result in the emission of beta or alpha particles. The most important work of Yang is Yang-Mills theory.
